 Few weeks before labor , it may be hard to go up and down the stairs. It can also be a little anxious. 

39 and 41 weeks - when to expect baby - full term

37 weeks is normal too.

but if you see bleeding call doc.cramping. contractions, call doc

when to call doc after 37 weeks 

- mucus plug weeks or days before delivery

water breaks - wear a large pad for water break. trickle of fluid. once water breaks infection can increase

if green or yellow, call doc.

braxton hicks - a min or more

real contractions don't stop or go away, becomes more and more powerful

call doc when contraction happens every 5 mins and each contraction happens every 1 min for a period of 1 hour.

factor in hospital distance.

Once at hospital

check for active labor

even if you opt out of pain medication, you will have IV

2 monitors are attached to your belly - one for contraction, one for baby heart beat.

you can still move and go to bathroom with IV and monitors.

with a diff monitor, they will monitor by inserting wire on baby scalp thru vagina.

fully dilated cervix is 10 cm

Induction

water breaks but contractions don't start

past due date.

should not be induced before 39 weeks. 

1. prostoglandin / misoprostol - to soften cervix and let labor going - pill / gel / suppository

2. Oxytocin (pitocin) - through IV

3. break water

epidural - should say OK before it's too late

can't walk or go to bathroom after getting epidural - bed pan 

can still be patchy and work only on some parts

you can also get an opiod - relax - makes you and your baby drowsy

Delivery

you may poop

episiotomy - to prevent tears maay be done 

or there may be natural tears and stitches

Vaccum and forcep assisted deliveries  - baby may have some bruise but will heal

C- section

10 - 15 minutes after cut, skin to skin in operating room may not be possible.

breastfeeding - ask for a lactation consultant if you're having trouble.

tired and sore

epdiural is removed - 2 hours for numbness to go away.

ask for icepacks for vagina

ask for sitz bath for tears. tucks pad.

ask for stool softener if you are worried about going to bathroom

if you are leaking , tell your doc and she will help with this

Baby blues, if lasting over 2 weeks - call doc

also if swelling, or continuous bleeding or breast infection. bad smelling fluid. fever or chills. call

Risks

you - infection of kidney or uterus

baby risk - pneumonia , weak shoulders/arms

Level 0 to where?

So I made a list of what I want to study on Sep 13 and a list of chores and other things I want to try earlier. Here are my updates from today : 25th.  I know there's a lot of things I want to do - mommy stuff, study stuff, home maker stuff, fun stuff, fin stuff. And I also know there's only limited energy and learning curves with everything. So here's a Level plan starting from level 0 promoting to wherever my body allows me to go.  As someone who I've been following for a long time and been inspired by, and also being at this juncture of having to commit more to a family role while still not feeling like I've figured out a career, I was really looking forward to Indra Nooyi's book.
