Burping

burp every feeding

pat or rub her back with burp cloth

once or many times

Diapers

5-6 wet diapers a day

3-5 dirty diapers a day

check before feedings

not ddiarrhea - should not be white black or red poop

pee - light yellow is fine - can have little blood first day

wipe front to back

wipes 

make sure you dry out after wipe before putting diaper back

don't use powder

yeast red rash - call doc - ointment

Sleeping

they sleep 18 hours - so they do give you chances to sleep

first month - they sleep around the clock

by 2 months - longer stretches at night

hold her as needed - this is not spoiling

start a routine right away

even though baby won't know day and night, read or sing every night before putting to sleep

white noise

quiet and calm

always on her back when sleeping

don't adjust her morning sleep - won't help with night sleep

safe crib 

firm mattress

Bathing

sponge bath or better wash cloth rather than sponge

don't clean inside of ears

creases behind ears, fingers, toes, neck

don't touch her umbilical cord area for bathing until it falls off

little bleeding during cord is fine, but pus or swelling redness is not okay - call

Level 0 to where?

So I made a list of what I want to study on Sep 13 and a list of chores and other things I want to try earlier. Here are my updates from today : 25th.  I know there's a lot of things I want to do - mommy stuff, study stuff, home maker stuff, fun stuff, fin stuff. And I also know there's only limited energy and learning curves with everything. So here's a Level plan starting from level 0 promoting to wherever my body allows me to go. I also want to shortlist the varied interests so I can weed out things if at all I do get the time/energy to do things. Indra Nooyi's 'My life in Full'

 As someone who I've been following for a long time and been inspired by, and also being at this juncture of having to commit more to a family role while still not feeling like I've figured out a career, I was really looking forward to Indra Nooyi's book. I was looking for learning and inspiration. If I have to get a net-net summary from this book so far. 1.
