Masterclass Updates

 A couple of Masterclass updates

I did take one on Interior designing months back and my brain is blank because I did not take notes.

Here's notes from Elaine Welterworth's Designing Your Career:

- She started with a system very similar to the Ikigai system with 4 quarters : Talent, Passion, Skills, Values. Except there was one key way it differed from ikigai in that she defined values as "What are things that matter to you more than money? And why?" and that's a very interesting question.
- She mentioned how we need to excavate our childhood to understand what our true values are, before the world interfered with our thinking.
- One thing I really liked was when she spoke about Joy Containers. I just watched a few episodes of Sparking Joy and I am starting to see how it's easy to ignore joy in our days.
- When making career changes she asked this question "Are we at the point of diminishing returns?" - Is it possible to hit finance goals without this job, is there anything to learn?
- She spoke about financial planning and confidence
- Mind map of all the things you like to be.
- Mentors / Digital Mentors - court them , ask for 15 mins, do your homework, be specific and intentional.
- Board of advisers - not the people you pay, but the people you trust to critique you.
- Networking at work - be generous with your time and energy - give time - make connections
- The power of an excellent outfit : hers was her boots, her curly hair, a bold colorful outfit and her glasses. Perceptions matter.
- Saying yes, saying no, saying Hell yes!
- Servant Leader
- Your manager cannot be your mentor.
- Side hustle : an hour before or after job, freelance, test the waters, fuel something.
- Operating from a zone of genius.
- Who you hire are also your investors, fire fast if they're not invested in your brand.
- Social media brand
- Navigating Cancel Culture : Focus on the impact and not on your intention when you do something that needed you to be more educated about the insensitivities. Apologize and learn and make it better. Never shut yourself.

Next I want to do one on Wilderness Survival or Mental Strength or even Athlete's mindset.

Meanwhile Arvind says "Efforts don't matter. Results do"

Wilderness :

Signaling : Electronic, cloth signals, fire, whistle
Personal Protection : Shelter, cloth
Sustenance : Water first. Food later.
Explore :
Stay Alive = Mental health. Health. Hygiene. First Aid

Signaling:

electronic - subscribe / making noise / texting - exactly what you want instead of a helicopter

signal mirror, put it on your one eye - hit it on your hand on the sun side and then flicker to something else

find a place flat with 360 view for helicopter to land safely. never approach the helicopter/aircraft. they will come to you - stay back.

with clothes make X or V, not SOS. Or shadows by gathering snow.

make white smoke by throwing green vegetation on small fire right when something passes

make dark smoke in fog - burn petroleum, plastic, tyre

Personal protection

knife - razor
